My professional history (the short version)

25 years ago, I began my marketing career in the fast-paced advertising agency world after studying marketing communications, business psychology and English literature at university.

I’ve been working in communications in your industry ever since.

My lifelong passion for buildings took me in the direction of property, where I’ve been fortunate to work with market leaders in the built environment, incredible interior designers, furniture makers, property developers, workspaces and prop tech start-ups throughout my career.

Alongside my communications focus, I also co-founded one of the UK’s first coworking spaces and built on my studies with further professional qualifications in workspace psychology, interior design and well certification (healthy buildings). You can learn more on my LinkedIn page.

How much do I know about marketing and communications?

I’ve been advising clients on marketing and communications for 25 years – I haven’t just got into this game off the back of a viral post.

I’ve worked with more businesses than I can recount, written thousands of articles and hundreds of websites, taught hundreds of people how to communicate and grow their business, and I’ve worked as a marketing director, head of communications, marketing consultant, senior copywriter, content strategist and more for market leaders.

They have all trusted my expertise and so can you.

What do I know about interiors, property and furniture?

For as long as I can remember, I’ve been obsessed with floorplans, interiors and furnishings. I would spend hours reimagining the homes for sale in newspaper property sections. Little did I know that, years later, I would see my own home’s interior featured on a full-page in the property section of The Times (a dream come true).

My professional interest in all things ‘property’ flourished further when I went on a house building course with the NHBC early in my career. I was working as their marketing manager, and needed to become familiar with residential design, construction, planning and building standards.

From the moment I put on that hard hat and stepped into the half-built development, I was hooked.

15 years later, I finally took my passion further and studied interior design at KLC and achieved the WELL building standard accreditation for healthy buildings in 2022, which has given me even greater insight into the lives of my clients.

Over the years, I’ve worked with numerous interior designers, architects, furniture makers, specifiers, builders and developers. I am absolutely driven to help businesses in this industry grow.

How many businesses have I helped?

I’ve helped over 100 business owners directly and countless others in group sessions, workshops and articles.

My client relationships last for a long time (often for years) as I accompany clients along different stages of business growth.

Those clients have been start-ups, sole traders, SMEs and managers/directors in larger companies. It’s been a real variety.

I’ve helped them with everything from their long-term growth plans and communication strategies to their content plans, social media, positioning, pricing, tone of voice and copywriting.

I also support HR teams with internal communications, recruitment communications, onboarding, diversity & inclusion, and workplace wellbeing campaigns.

The trust and relationships that come from working together always leads to me becoming a trusted consultant, confidant, advisor and friend.

What does my ‘WELL AP’ qualification do?

A someone who works in the built environment, you may have heard of the WELL standard. If not, read this: What is WELL?

Its aim is to help the industry develop spaces that enhance human health and wellbeing.

As a WELL AP, I’m qualified to work alongside developers, interior designers and architects to ensure the space meets the requirements of each feature in the standard. If you’re working with a client keen to achieve WELL certification on their building, I can help.

In addition to helping clients achieve extra points in their certification journey, I also work with property owners, tenants and landlords to help them communicate the benefits of WELL to their employees and stakeholders.

From internal communications and guidance to workplace signposts, information, media messages and reporting, I can help you gain even greater return on your investment into WELL.
